Trump Discloses Iran Nuclear Negotiations Resume Next Week
Speaking to the press aboard Air Force One while traveling to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for the weekend, Trump commented on the diplomatic channel.
"We likewise had very good talks on Iran," Trump told reporters.
The president suggested Iranian officials are eager to reach an agreement. "We have to see what that deal is. But I think Iran looks like they want to make a deal very badly," said Trump. "We're going to meet again early next week."
However, Trump issued a stern warning regarding Tehran's nuclear ambitions, stating that failure to negotiate successfully would bring severe repercussions. Meanwhile, Trump warned that if Iran fails to make a deal over its nuclear program, "the consequences are very steep."
The president revealed significant U.S. military positioning in the region. "We have a big armada, and we have a big fleet heading in that direction, gonna be there pretty soon. So we'll see how that works out," he added.
According to local media reports, Friday's discussions in Oman included U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper.
