Washington Sets Deadline for Iran Before Next Nuclear Negotiations
According to the report, a concrete Iranian plan could open the door to “detailed negotiations” toward a nuclear agreement, with the possibility of an interim arrangement prior to a comprehensive deal.
Abbas Araghchi tells a news agency that the proposal is still being finalized. He emphasizes that both sides are working on elements designed to “accommodate both sides' concerns and trusts,” and notes that Iran’s leadership has not yet formally approved the text. He expresses confidence that progress will be made once the sides meet.
Araghchi indicates that the Geneva meeting is likely to occur on Thursday, slightly earlier than previous reports suggesting Friday, stating that the two sides could “work on those elements and prepare a good text and come to a fast speed.” He describes a diplomatic solution as “quite possible.”
Regarding military pressure from Donald Trump regional proxies, responding to calls from Marco Rubio. “Right now, we are negotiating only nuclear, and there is no other subject,” he asserts.
Reports indicate that senior US officials view the current diplomatic window as potentially the last opportunity before Washington could authorize a large-scale joint military operation with Israel, possibly targeting Ali Khamenei directly.
