Iran Denies Sending Delegation to Pakistan for New Round of US Talks

(MENAFN) Iran’s state media has reported that no delegation has traveled to Pakistan for a planned second round of talks with the United States, casting doubt on whether negotiations are currently taking place.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, neither a main delegation nor any supporting diplomatic team has departed for Islamabad. The report directly rejected earlier media claims suggesting that Iranian representatives were expected to arrive for discussions on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

The broadcaster also described such reports as inaccurate, stating that no official travel had been confirmed. It referenced comments from Iranian officials indicating that participation in any further talks would depend on changes in US conduct, with Tehran maintaining opposition to negotiations held under pressure.

Iranian officials have previously stated that they will not engage in dialogue they view as occurring under coercive conditions, reinforcing their position that diplomatic engagement must be based on mutual terms.

Pakistan has been acting as a mediator in efforts to facilitate dialogue between the two sides following earlier rounds of talks hosted in Islamabad. Those discussions followed a temporary ceasefire agreement that is now approaching its expiration, with uncertainty surrounding its renewal.

Meanwhile, US officials have signaled that continuation of the ceasefire is unlikely without a broader agreement, while maintaining restrictive measures tied to maritime and regional security issues.
