Iran Reports Cyberattack Impacting Four Major Banks
According to reports, banking officials detected unusual activity and quickly activated security protocols to safeguard customer information and protect the national banking network.
"Technical teams immediately implemented the necessary preventive and protective measures to protect customer data and the country's banking infrastructure after identifying unusual signs," the country's Bank Coordination Council said in a statement.
Authorities stated that preliminary technical assessments linked the incident to a limited cyberattack targeting the shared communications infrastructure used by the four banks.
"Detailed technical investigations indicate that this disruption was caused by a limited cyberattack on the shared communication infrastructure of these four banks, and fortunately, no unauthorized access to customer information occurred and no information was deleted," the council said.
Officials added that specialists have regained control of all affected infrastructure systems. Recovery efforts and additional security measures remain underway as technical teams continue to monitor the situation.
