NH Political Analyst: Trump’s Unpopular Agenda Could Set Pro-Trump Sununu Up for a “November Disappointment”
Scott Spradling: “The track record we’ve seen in New Hampshire is that the Trump-endorsed candidate has been successful in September, that does not translate to overall support in November.”
Donald Trump-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate John Sununu is running as a pro-Trump candidate because he believes “we need to protect those gains that the president and this Congress has made,” but he could be setting himself up for a “November disappointment” according to political analyst Scott Spradling.
As Spradling recently put it during an interview on Good Morning NH with Jack Heath, “The Republican Party, as it stands right now at the national level, is the party of Donald Trump. [...] And the track record we've seen in New Hampshire is that the Trump-endorsed candidate has been successful in September, that does not translate to overall support in November,” — highlighting that Trump’s approval ratings are “not great nationally, and they’re not good in New Hampshire.”
Recent polling shows Trump has a -25 net approval rating among Granite Staters, but Trump’s vastly unpopular agenda hasn’t stopped Sununu from calling this race “important to President Trump's agenda and to the successes that have been made in Washington” and backing Trump’s war with Iran, tariffs, and health care cuts.

They're not great nationally, and they're not good in New Hampshire. And at the moment, you've got more than two-thirds of independents completely dissatisfied with what's going on in Washington, and they're not that happy with what's going on in Concord.

- If it's a Donald Trump vote for him, then you're in. Otherwise, it's a primary fight that leads to a November disappointment here in New Hampshire. We've now seen that act a few times, and I'm not sure that changes this November.
