Tehran Rejects US Approach, Says Iran Has Never Walked Away from Talks

(MENAFN) Iran has not withdrawn from negotiations, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Sunday, accusing Washington of pursuing one-sided demands and seeking to force Tehran to accept them.

In an interview with a German broadcaster, Baqaei discussed diplomatic efforts, security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz and allegations linking Iran to operations targeting air bases in Britain.

“Iran has never left the negotiating table. The problem lies in America’s insistence on its unilateral demands and its attempts to impose them,” he said.

He also rejected claims that Tehran was involved in the alleged operations against British air bases, stating: “Iran has absolutely no connection to the operations allegedly carried out against air bases in Britain.”

Addressing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Baqaei described the waterway as “not safe” and blamed the United States and Israel for the situation.

“The US and Israel have abused this waterway because they continue to use the entire region to carry out their military attacks and unlawful acts of aggression against Iran,” he said.

Baqaei warned that while the current circumstances persist, Iran would be compelled to take whatever steps it considers necessary to safeguard its territorial integrity, national security and population.
